The trend seems to be that he will produce cria that are one shade lighter than the dam. So far from him there is white, fawn, copper and brown. With an air about him that commands respect, this macho has excellent confirmation, is very dense with good coverage, and lovely character to his fleece as well. All of his offspring have followed suite. He is our gentle giant that is very easy to handle.

About this alpaca:	LEDGER’s life has been quite a saga. We purchased his dam, OPHELIA, several years ago in Australia, and brought her to Canada as part of Margaret Brewster’s “ELITE” importation. At the time we purchased her, OPHELIA was being bred to one of Australia’s top herdsires – LEDGER’S DREAM. When our little “LEDGER” was born eleven months later, we were thrilled that he was a male, as he carried Australia’s best genetics into Canada, and these bloodlines were otherwise not available anywhere in North America. LEDGER was born in the middle of Canadian winter – we had to keep him closed in the barn for the first few months of his life. He didn’t thrive, of course, being a winter baby in our climate, and that may have been the reason that he was slow to start breeding as an adult. A ‘late bloomer’, LEDGER was five years of age when he settled his first female. Since then, he’s never looked back – he’s become an aggressive breeder who settles the females easily into pregnancy. We absolutely love our LEDGER babies – they’re mainly dark in colour, with short muzzles and heavy fibre coverage. They're VERY cute!
