Description
On 17 May 2022 Redens Chieftain, a double black champion, moved 320 miles north from the stud line up of Redens Alpacas to join us and we’re absolutely delighted and still a bit in shock that we got the chance to offer him a loving home here at Barnacre, thanks Linda and Ron!
Chieftain is the black son of Eringa Park Golden Age and Redens Wialki, meaning he is the brother of Redens Dynamic, the 2022 National Show black champion. Outstanding Australian genetics are on both his sire’s and dam’s side resulting is a well grown true black male with a fine, soft, long and dense fleece. He is conformationally correct with a strong frame like his father.
Genetics – His pedigree reads like a who’s who including names such as Windsong Valley Firedragon, Jolimont Warrior, Jolimont Conquistador and NWA Ltd Ruffo.
Fleece – Here at Barnacre we make luxurious knitwear traceable to individual alpacas and so fleece quality is really important to us. Chieftain passes that test! His 2022/4th fleece is available for inspection, it has a nice handle, lack of guard hair, dense and is very consistent.
Personality – Quiet and easy to handle, usually at the front of the queue to meet you at the gate for breakfast. Easy to lead on the halter, thanks Ron and Linda!
Colour – Solid true black
Progeny – Chieftain had 6 cria at Redens in 2021 which we personally reviewed, and they were all very pleasing. His first cria, Redens Fiddlesticks, solid dark brown had a 16.8µ fleece with an SD of 3.7 and 90mm length. We have seen another of his progeny, a black girl who is amazing. His first cria is due here at Barnacre in May 2023 with, fingers crossed, another 14 to follow. We have put him over 11 black, 3 brown and a fawn dam. Seven of the dams have given a positive ultrasound scan so far.
