EP Cambridge Samson has been imported from Australia. He was bred there by EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud and born on the 28th August 2005

Pedigree
EP Cambridge Samson's genetics are sourced from Australia’s latest Elite Ancestor. EP Cambridge Samson was sired by EP Cambridge Peruvian Spartacus, seen by many leading Australian alpaca breeders as the new number one Herdsire available in Australia.

Show Results
EP Cambridge Samson was awarded Reserve Champion Intermediate Male at the 2006 Royal Adelaide Show. On his arrival in the UK he was shown just once, at the 2008 British Alpaca Society - Spring Alpaca Fiesta, he was awarded Champion White Male and subsequently the SUPREME CHAMPION award.

Fleece
His fleece is simply stunning, the fleece picture gives an idea of the character present. His fleece is solid white and uniform in colour throughout. The crimp is high in amplitude with a medium frequency. The staples are very individual, all highly aligned and very well organized. The character of the fleece is amazing, but the brightness of his fleece has amazed breeders who have examined it.

Skin Biopsy Analysis
In 2008, skin biopsy testing was carried out by Ian Watt of Elite Alpaca Breeding Systems in the USA. EP Cambridge Samson recorded a Follicle Density of 56.94/mm2 with a Secondary/Primary Follicle Ratio of 12.8:1 This reveals his exceptionally high density and low ratio of guard hair.

Commenting on EP Cambridge Samson’s skin biopsy analysis, Ian Watt is quoted as saying “This male shows good density supported by a very good secondary to primary ratio, indicating that this is a male with good prospects as a superior sire.”

Attributes
EP Cambridge Samson is already making a huge contribution to the future of the Wellground Alpaca herd with the birth of superior cria in 2008. EP Cambridge Samson is showing homozygous traits especially for colour. His offspring to date are all solid white, his brightness and bold crimp are replicated in his progeny. EP Cambridge Samson would be an excellent choice for the breeder who is considering adding crimp and brightness into their herd and at the same time looking to reduce the primary fibre ratio in their offspring.

Limited 'drive-by' Stud Services will be available in 2010 to selected or approved female alpacas. Approved female alpacas need to satisfy a stringent criteria, which we have set as a test. For further details of that test, please contact us. Contact Rob or Lesley Rawlins for more information about EP Cambridge Samson.

Cambridge Buckingham has been imported from Australia. He was bred by EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud and born on the 18th March 2005

Pedigree
Cambridge Buckingham's genetics are sourced from two of the finest Elite Ancestors. He was sired by Jolimont Commisario, Cambridge Buckingham’s dam is Cambridge Trinity, she was sired by NWA Ltd. Ruffo. In Cambridge Buckingham we are delighted to have the genetics of both Commisario and Ruffo, creating arguably one of the most exciting genetic packages available in the UK today. Those breeders who closely follow pedigrees will spot that this male is the only herdsire to be released by EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud from their 'Royal Lines'. Buckingham's Grand Dam is one of the three founders of that Royal Herd, Jolimont Rosalina. This makes Cambridge Buckingham a very rare and very elite herdsire indeed.

Show Results
Cambridge Buckingham's full brother (by Embryo-Transfer) EP Cambridge Escalabar remains in Australia. He was awarded Supreme Champion at the 2007 Royal Adelaide Show. Cambridge Buckingham will not be shown in the UK.

Fleece
Cambridge Buckingham’s fleece is quite exceptional; incredibly dense with wonderful brightness. The staple length is remarkably high displaying a medium amplitude, high frequency crimp. The individual fibre staples are highly aligned and very well organised.

Attributes
Cambridge Buckingham is already making a huge impact on our breeding future at Wellground Alpaca Stud having already produced the highest quality offspring. He is showing homozygous traits in his fleece fineness, crimp and character. However he does allow shades other than white to prevail in his progeny. He is the number one herdsire at Wellground and is ideally suited as a finishing male for high quality white and light fawn females.

Limited 'drive-by' Stud Services will be available in 2010 to selected or approved female alpacas. Approved female alpacas need to satisfy a stringent criteria, which we have set as a test. Eringa Park Lionheart ET has been imported from Australia. He was bred by EP (Eringa Park) Cambridge Alpaca Stud and born on the 30th March 2006.

Pedigree
Eringa Park Lionheart's genetics are sourced from the World’s finest Elite Ancestors. He was conceived by Embryo Transfer. EP Cambridge used their finest donor females and selected elite hersires to create the ‘perfect’ alpaca. He was sired by the amazing Jolimont Gianmarco a male who sold for a record price in Australia (that record still stands today). Eringa Park Lionheart's dam is Eringa Park Showtime, she was sired by NWA Ltd. Ruffo. In Eringa Park Lionheart ET we are delighted to have the genetics of both Gianmarco and Ruffo. His Dam Eringa Park Showtime is famous for being one of Australia's most decorated female alpacas on their national show circuit.

Fleece
Eringa Park Lionheart's fleece is an apricot shade of mid fawn. He is extremely uniform in colour and micron. His fleece is very soft with a high frequency, high amplitude crimp, the fibres are highly aligned into small individual pencil style staples. This is the style of fleece that alpaca breeders are striving to achieve today.

Skin Biopsy Analysis
In 2009, skin biopsy testing was carried out by Ian Watt of Elite Alpaca Breeding Systems in the USA. Lionheart recorded a Follicle Density of 53.87/mm2 with a Secondary/Primary Follicle Ratio of 10.5:1

Commenting on Lionheart’s skin biopsy analysis, Ian Watt is quoted as saying “This is a very good herd sire prospect and should show best results when covering above average females.”

Attributes
Eringa Park Lionheart ET will make a huge impact on our breeding future at Wellground Alpaca Stud. He is as yet unproven, however his skin biopsy analysis suggests that he has excellent prospects. Eringa Park Lionheart ET will be the ideal choice for high quality white, fawn and brown females.

Limited 'drive-by' Stud Services will be available in 2010 to selected or approved female alpacas. Approved female alpacas need to satisfy a stringent criteria, which we have set as a test. Wellground Close Encounter was born in the United Kingdom on the 1st January 2007, he was conceived in quarantine in New Zealand. His Sire and Dam were bred by EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud in Australia.

Pedigree
Wellground Close Encounter's genetics are sourced from many of the World’s most respected Elite Ancestors. He was sired by Cambridge Encounter who was the Australian National Junior Champion in 2003. Cambridge Encounter is the son of Jolimont Conquistador. He also has the legendary ILR Ppperuvian Auzengate in his pedigree. Wellground Close Encounter's Dam is EP Cambridge Jewel, she was sired by EP Cambridge Peruvian Maximus. This young male has a fabulous pedigree.

Show Results
Wellground Close Encounter was awarded Champion Intermediate Male at the 2008 Royal Bath and West Show.

Fleece
Wellground Close Encounter's fleece is stunning, the finest fleece we have bred at Wellground with an average diameter of just 14.7 microns at his first shear. At second shearing his fleece is still 17.6 microns with an astonishingly low CV of 16.5%. His crimp can be described as high frequency and high amplitude with extremely low display of guard hair. His solid white colour is uniform throughout.

Skin Biopsy Analysis
In 2009, skin biopsy testing was carried out by Ian Watt of Elite Alpaca Breeding Systems in the USA. Close Encounter recorded a Follicle Density of 57.12/mm2 with an impressive Secondary/Primary Follicle Ratio of 13.0:1 Wellground Close Encounter is our most dense herdsire, our finest herdsire and has the lowest primary follicle ratio of our herdsires. He has an incredible future ahead of him.

Commenting on Close Encounter’s skin biopsy analysis, Ian Watt is quoted as saying “The superior density figure is very well supported by the excellent S:P ratio of 13:1 which, in turn is well illustrated in the micrograph showing good follicle group formation and an evenness in fibre shape”.

Attributes
Wellground Close Encounter will make a huge contribution to the future of the Wellground Alpaca herd. He is as yet unproven, however his skin biopsy analysis along with his fibre statistics suggest that he is possibly heading to be our ‘number one’ choice herdsire. Wellground Close Encounter will be the ideal choice for high quality white and light fawn females.

Wellground Close Encounter is currently unavailable for outside stud services. He is being used for 'Special Services' and in-house use only in 2010. Sorry.
