GWR Alpaca Fleece and Fibre Show

With shearing coming up very soon now. Please could you all consider sending a fleece or two into this new innovative concept of an alpaca fleece show.

It really should be a good day out, lots of fun and no worry about your alpacas contracting disease. We know that many people have chosen not to show in 2010 because of your concerns over bTB. We have created this show for those people. So that we can actually make everyone feel included.

A restaurant and a bar will be open for us during the day. The show is a fleece and fibre day as well as a fleece show, there will be trade stands relating to alpaca fibre and a speaker talking about alpaca fibre products in the lunch break. We are creating a fun day out, an event to enjoy without the stresses.

The show judge is Dominic Lane an Internationally renowned Alpaca Judge from Australia.

Please go to our website at www.gwr-alpaca-show.co.uk

Spaces are limited, so please don't miss out. Enter a fleece or two and get your shearer to shear them for a fleece show.

Enter as soon as you can to secure a place, then send your fleece in later when shorn.

Elite Alpaca Breeding Programme

We have completed an Audio-Visual Presentation with information relating to our Elite Alpaca Breeding Plan.

Alpaca Halter Shows in 2010

We ceased showing our alpacas at halter shows in May 2009, following concerns over the spread of bTB in alpacas. We have maintained the highest possible levels of biosecurity during 2009. We intend to continue this very high level of biosecurity at Wellground Alpaca Stud to protect our own alpaca herd, and the herds of our clients. We have decided that in the interests of maintaining this level of biosecurity (and to protect ourselves from contracting bTB as far as possible), we will not be showing our alpacas at halter shows in 2010.

Stud Services

Until we can make a reliable risk assesment of the current situation, all our Stud Services are suspended. We do not wish to contract bTB from carrying out stud services using our herdsires. We would consider it irresponsible of us to continue offering stud services until we have a clearer picture of the developing situation.

Thank you

Also, I'd just like to thank all those lovely people who have sent me messages of kind wishes following my recent accident. You are all very kind.
