Who We Are

Orrapoora Alpacas, established in 1994, is owned and managed by Helen and Nestor Ellinopoullos, and their children Kristi and Jason. Orrapoora Alpacas is a division of Airlie Group Holdings Pty Limited.

The name “Orrapoora” is a Central Australian Aboriginal word meaning “Australian Magpie” (Gymnorhina tibicen).

After much searching, we decided that the Goulburn region in NSW provided the perfect climate for our alpacas and we found our ideal farm just outside the city of Goulburn. We brought our animals here in early 1998 and now run some 120 alpacas, both our own and agisted.

Where We Are

We are at ‘Airlie’, 135 Mt Baw Baw Rd Goulburn NSW, on 60 rolling acres high above, and only 7 km from, the city of Goulburn, in fine merino wool country.

Our farm is very easy to find with bitumen to the front gate. Please contact us to arrange a visit.

We have both native and improved pastures which seem to suit our animals well. The Goulburn district is excellent country for alpacas, with low humidity, no paralysis ticks, and no known sporidesmin to date. The Goulburn area is becoming more and more popular with alpaca breeders and the alpaca community is steadily increasing.

At Orrapoora we have a large range of alpacas, both in respect to colour and age, for you to choose from. All our alpacas are dual-registered with the Australasian Alpaca Breeders Association (AABA) and the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA). Packages of animals can be tailored to suit your circumstances and we invite you to contact us to arrange inspections. Good discounts are provided for bulk sales, and we can offer interest-free finance over 12 months.

All our females are sold either pregnant or come with a free mating to any Orrapoora male. All our stud males are dual-registered with the Australasian Alpaca Breeders Association (AABA) and the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA), and are further being DNA-verified with the AABA, meaning their progeny are closer to the top tier of the Australasian Alpaca Register (AAR).

Fertility of our females and live births are both guaranteed.
