Our foundation stock was purchased from premier breeders in the UK in 2003. We are a medium sized farm of nine hectares with a herd of up to 30 alpacas.
Having less animals per hectare allows the alpacas to enjoy fresh pasture with a regular rotation onto rested land. This rotation aims to keep the alpacas both healthy, happy and alert, as being highly curious they seem to appreciate interacting with a change of environment.
As a farm we have practised the Camelidynamics system of handling the animals for the past five years. This has improved our ability to carry out routine maintenance procedures or treatment of our alpacas, if necessary, in a calm and respectful way that does not cause undue stress, and has improved their confidence in us.
